Shaw Studios were enlisted by The Crown Estate to design a ground floor meeting suite for a newly developed shared office building in Bessborough Street, Pimlico. The meeting suite is utilised by tenants hosting both internal staff and external client or colleague meetings; as such, the brief was to create a space that works for all levels of formality and to find a balance between a fresh, contemporary design and a neutral space that would be universally usable.
With sustainability a key ethos of the project, the furniture specified was a careful blend of reused, refinished, vintage and new. By working closely with a specialist furniture supplier, the resulting effect is a unified scheme with characterful details.
Bold artwork, commissioned by an emerging artist, is featured in every meeting room and reflects the colour palette of the styling items and accessories throughout the space. Subtle curving shapes applied to the internal walls reference the architectural details of the building’s exterior and pay homage to its listed 1980’s façade.
